Purpose of the Position

Manage communications and coordinate student activities to (1) increase the awareness and understanding of Nossi College of Arts' mission and initiatives, (2) provide outreach to the community and (3) build a strong, unified student body, involved with the school for growth in the student culture and to cultivate an alumni network.
 
Key Responsibilities of the Position

  • Work as a mentor/ coach to student lead groups on community projects and events, both internal and external, while documenting their progress.

 

  • Manage website and social media content, carrying out the digital strategy set for the college and engaging participants in an active conversation with the college administration.

 

  • Create an editorial schedule to ensure content creation, consistency, and quality for Nossi’s blog, email marketing campaigns and social media channels.

 

  • Identify, direct and articulate strategic messages for internal (students, faculty and staff) and external (prospects, high school counselors, teachers and general public) and develop programs for communicating them; develop and maintain knowledge on current policy issues in higher education.

 

  • Articulate college policies, issues and activities to a wide range of constituencies including the media, the public, high school counselors and teachers, campus personnel, alumni and others.

 

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with key media, advertising art industry peers across the state and in the creative arts industry. Write and distribute press releases to appropriate media.

 

  • Manage and respond to information requests from the media and the public, including social media.

 

  • Work with Graphic Design Coordinator to write and edit print and electronic publications.

 

  • Develop and implement crisis management activities as events warrant and serve as system and central office point person for external contacts in event of disaster, pandemic, etc.

 

  • Function as member of senior office staff and as participant in Nossi College of Art policy-making and strategy development.


Decision-making Authority
Exercise substantial decision-making authority under broad strategic direction of the Executive V.P. Make multiple decisions relative to the implementation of communications strategies within the mission of the College, the policy direction of the President and the budget. Work with minimal direct supervision, consulting as needed.
 
Skills

  • Outstanding critical analysis and problem-solving skills. Excellent discretion, judgment and ability to function effectively in fast-paced, changing environment with multiple competing demands.

 

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal direction or supervision.

 

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with electronic media, social media, and emerging communications technologies and techniques.

 

  • Outstanding writing and verbal skills, communicating across the board to students, alumni, and industry peers. Adaptability to various personality types and situations as necessary.  

 

 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree
  • Experience in progressively responsible positions in communications, public relations, media relations, marketing or journalism. PR professional a plus, but not mandatory.
